Yesterday I posted a question on facebook and twitter asking everyone to post what they “most” want to know or hear about my quest.  On twitter I received one of the most powerful questions you could ask!  Thank you golfgirl09 for asking such an important and inspiring question,  it helped me ponder focus and articulate my goals even more.   YOU are so cool for asking it!

Here’s her great BIG awesome question and my answer:

@golfgirl09 what’s your ultimate goal?

My ultimate goal is to win a major Women’s Amateur Tournament.  To hold the title of Women’s Amateur Champion at one of the following Major Tournaments:

NCGA Women’s Championship

USGA Women’s Amateur, Mid-Am or Senior Am Championship

AND to share my journey with a great many women and men ~ to be the example of change in people’s lives.  to achieve one of these titles while also being a Mom, a Biz Owner and having begun my sport later in life.   To inspire others to go for their dreams and live life from their place of greatness.

AND that it is always the right time to for us all to follow our song.  To inspire the infinite possibilities in life!

The problem is not that we set our sights too high and miss it.

But that we set our sights too low and get it.

This is SO true in life in business and in athletics.  Ok ~ It’s true in everything!

How BIG do you really dream?  Seriously?  Most people dream to the point of what they “think” they can get not really what their deep down desires are.  Do they really put the goal out there of of living a life of their true dreams or of being one of top athletes in the world?   Not usually.  From what I can see people sell themselves short ALL the time.  They set their goals really low either consciously or subconsciously and most of the time they reach their goal of mediocrity.

Most people don’t think they are “worthy” of reaching awesomeness.  Many people don’t even think they are “worthy” of simply dreaming big.  Where does that come from?  It comes from years of buying into other people’s beliefs on how things work and how they should work.  It comes from not fully understanding that YOU are awesome and have a greatness inside of you that is beyond your comprehension.  It comes from not getting that everything is YOUR “choice”.  Everything in YOUR life is choice.  YOU must choose to be your greatness and you must choose to be YOU not what others expect from you.

A number of years ago a school evaluation psychologist asked my son what his goals were in life.  He was around 10 years old at the time.  He told her right out with pride ~ “my goal is to be the number one golfer in the world some day”.    Her reaction to him and to us, his parents, was that he was “setting himself up for disappointment” and that he should create more realistic goals.  The message was, you should temper your greatness and don’t shine too much.

What if you have been keeping  yourself small so as not to shine too much? What if we have been taught for a great many years through institutions and society and others around us that we must shoot for goals that are lower that we “know” we can reach.  Think about it most of the messages are:  dampen the greatness that is within us.   Change that right now!!

What if you are so much more than you ever thought you were?

Where have you been dampening YOUR greatness and what would it take to start shining?

Well it’s already been the first week of training and I have to tell you it was AWESOME!  It was everything I expected plus loads more!

We trained for a good solid 4 to 5 and sometimes 6 hours a day.

Coach Kim had us doing seriously excellent drills that create awesome focus and higher skill.  AND we had tons of on-course time too.

Most of the days we trained in over 100 degrees weather so lots and lots of water was consumed.

I truly LOVE having team mates!  WOW what an advantage to have comradeship and people to train hard with.   I had no idea what a great advantage it was until this week.    I have to say my team mates are awesome in so many ways!

I want to answer a few questions about the team that was asked on my fanpage:

Coasty asked:

When is the first golf match?

Do you have to qualify?

How many players on the team?

Our first match is Thursday September 2nd in Sacramento. Then we go to Napa on Tuesday Sept 7th.  Our season runs all the way through November.  I plan on posting our schedule here on the blog.

In the BIG “8″ Conference we don’t need to qualify for our regular team matches. However, we do need to qualify for the Championship Matches in November.

We have 5 players right now on the team. The four lowest scores in each match count.

After going through what seems like a crash course in new era online college registration (which is all about registering the second you see something open & then adding and dropping as you go) here is what I have this semester.  Remember, I registered pretty late so next semester, if I choose to continue, I will have more choices.

With these classes I am certainly going to learn a lot about being healthy…hahahah!

I was very interested in a number of other classes, however, most of them were actually overfilled.  Yes not just filled but “overfilled”.  Here are a few examples:  Anthropology, Nutrition, Oceanography, Women in American History, book writing and more.

All three classes have actually proven to be very interesting so far and certainly life enhancing so all in all I am satisfied with  what I have this semester.   I’ll keep you posted…

We shall become what we wish to become when our habits correspond with our desires

_Orison Sweet Marden

I found this quote written on the mirrored wall of my daughter’s Tae Kwon Do Master’s Studio.  It is such a powerful message because Most people form their daily habits through years of just doing and never actually take notice of it.

When you make the choice to access your true awesomeness (and greatness) then you will adjust your habits to correspond with your desires.

I love this question:

Where can I adjust my habits to correspond with my true desires?

and also

Where can I adjust my habits in order to be the greatness of me?

If you follow me on my quest facebook page you will have already heard a little about the zany crazy awesome thing I’m about to do!

I’m going on a College Golf Team! Yes me!  I already have a degree from way back when (1990), but, I’m going to College for this term (and maybe more) to be on the Women’s Golf Team.  How awesome is that ~ or you may be thinking how totally zany and crazy is that!?

The way that I perceive it is this, playing College golf is a fantastic experience in support of my quest. It’s another awesome chapter on my quest to become a champion golf athlete.  I mean how much better can you get than playing competitive College golf with lots of competitive matches against good athletes in an intense but supportive environment.

Here’s how it happened. The coach of the college team this year is my coach, Kim Silva,  she then recruited me to join the team since she felt it would be an awesome boost in my quest.   WOW isn’t it amazing how opportunities present themselves.   That being said, at first I wasn’t as open.  My first reaction was ~ yea right that’s crazy!!  Then as I pondered some more and opened myself up to the possibilities and learned more about how it works, I realized that it was an awesome opportunity.

What happened was, It felt SO different and SO out there that at first  I really resisted.  As I explored more and more…it became clear that it was a special gift that was presented to me.  All I needed was a little courage and I was on my way.

Here are some basic particulars on the team:

Our season starts NOW!  Our first match is September 2nd and our team training begins Monday!  Season is Sept – Nov.

The College is Sierra College in Rocklin, California (a two year Junior College with a very strong athletic department).

We are part of the BIG “8″ conference which is actually pretty darn competitive.

Here’s the page for last year’s team and results!   AND here’s our men’s golf team page.

Oh and YES I do need to take classes too ~ they start on Monday also. I have managed to sign up for all online classes, I’ll share them with you on my next post.

This adds so much to my quest AND so much to the awesome journey that I will be sharing with you.  My plan is to blog, fb and tweet it all this season or shall I say this “term”!  I am making plans for photos, videos and loads of update posts.

My new index is: 12.8!

This is down from 13.7 two weeks ago AND down significantly from the start of my quest.  Here’s an update from the start of my quest.  (For those of you new to golf down is GOOD! )

15.8 ~ 16.1 ~ 16.8 ~ 16.5 ~ 17.1 ~ 15.6 ~ 15.4 ~ 14.6 ~ 13.7 ~ 13.2 ~ 12.8

For me my progress is not just measured by my index but also in other areas like:

Tournament performance

On course mindset

AND the lessons I learn from my journey

I especially LOVE the lessons learned from my journey because, actually, they have been extraordinary!  AND in so many more ways than I could have ever imagined.  The tangible progress of achieving ones dream is “very” possible ~ however, the lessons learned on the journey are so extraordinary that it’s truly far beyond what you most likely can currently imagine.

I am eternally grateful to myself for having the courage to go forth on my quest.  I know that may sound a bit unusual to be eternally grateful to yourself,  but, you may want to try it sometime it’s pretty powerful stuff AND YOU are worth it.

I encourage YOU to choose your greatness and summon the courage for YOUR quest!

If there was absolutely nothing in your way and you could do or be anything you want ~ what would it be?  Come on,  use your imagination and step away from the current reality YOU have created for yourself and dream it & perceive it.

I am telling you this because I personally find that there are SO many people that just stick in their current reality and never even bother to look outside of what could or would be possible.  They shut it down before it even emerges as if it’s safer to not even go there in their thoughts.

Ponder this ~ what if you are so much greater than you have ever thought.  What if YOU and your being is far more awesome than you can even fathom at this point?

Dream a little and by all means once you dream it consider:  What if you were meant to shine!  What if YOU were meant to pursue your own personal awesome quest? AND what if it was incredibly powerful, awesome, fun, exciting and fulfilling!

I asked one of my favorite nutritionists ~ Rob Yang ~ for his advice on an awesome healthy Protein Shake formula and he sent me back a great recommendation.  I ordered it and have been using it now for a while.  Remember, Rob is very into natural food, whole foods and no additives.  This is a big reason why I follow him closely.  AND he is the nutritionist for many awesome athletes including professional golf athletes!

Kirsten: Rob do you have a recommendation for a healthy protein shake.

Rob: Kirsten, I recommend Whey Cool. It is grass fed and low temperature dehydrated. High amounts of immunoglobulins, BCAA’s, CLA.

You can access it through my store. The password is nutrition   Rob’s Store

*  Kirsten’s quest full disclosure:  I am not in any way compensated by Rob Yang and receive no payment to send people to his store…I just love his work and want to share it with you.
